Traditionally, photographs were restored using airbrush and inks. Today, restoration is mostly performed using digital imaging software.

Quite often we have photos that are good, but could be great with a few adjustments. This may be as simple as removing blemishes, dark circles under the eyes, even wrinkles can be removed, or uncomplimentary backgrounds, whitening teeth and adding 'sparkle' to eyes, or perhaps you may wish to lose a few kilos, change the colour of hair or even add hair where it once grew. Retouching is a little like cosmetic surgery (without the pain!).

Photos taken by you can be enhanced to look like professional studio photos, saving you the hassle and cost of hiring photographers and studio space, but more importantly, providing you with great images that do your product justice.

We provide image enhancement services to make your picture perfect. We will endeavour to improve your snap, making you or your subject look flawless. Colour may be added to any photograph, old or new. You may also choose to have a photograph selectively coloured, where only part of the photograph is coloured, whilst the rest of the image remains black and white or is toned. Having an old family photo restored and coloured is a great gift idea, especially for anniversaries or birthdays.

You may have a wedding portrait which you wish to make extra special. If you want to look like an air brushed super model on the cover of a magazine, now you can. We can remove any scars, spots, or birth marks that may spoil your photograph. Your teeth can be whitened. Dark circles and blood shot eyes will be a thing of the past.

Photo Restoration and Enhancement Pricing Guide

The cost of having a photo or document restored, retouched or colourised, is based on the time required to repair and enhance each individual image.

Damage on a large photo will require considerably more work than similar damage to a small photo. And, of course, some forms of damage require much more work.

Accurate quotes can only be given upon viewing the original image or document as some damage is not clearly evident until the image is scanned or assessed very closely.

Restoration level guide

Level 1

Suitable for images which may have faded or discoloured over time, but do not require any other repair.

Service includes:

» Scanning of print, slide or negative, adjusting density (brightness), contrast and colour balance
» Cropping and resizing of image to suit your specifications
» Straightening horizons
» Adding borders and/or text

Level 2

In addition to services offered with ‘Level 1’, this service also includes the repair of minor damage such as scratches, tears, dust spots, mould, stains, etc. on non-critical areas of the image.

Level 3

In addition to services provided for “Level 1 and 2’, this service includes repair of moderate damage, including damage to ‘critical’ areas on the image such as faces.

Level 4

Images with extensive damage or special restoration needs such as the rebuilding of facial features, limbs, etc., or the removal or addition of elements such as adding an extra person, fall into this category. In some instances, where large portions of the image have been lost, it may be necessary to work from more than one photograph.

This type of restoration is generally more time consuming, so a quote may be given upon request.
